Barracudas This Week (June 11)

Lots of new info this week, so please read through carefully.

Great job at the Westwood meet last week, Barracudas! Lots of personal best times and another handful of new all-star qualifiers, and many with seed times in new events.

Remember, this week's meet against Lake Hills on Saturday is the last meet to set a qualifying seed time in an event to swim in the medal meet (see "Special Meets" section below for more details). Chomp, chomp, chomp!

Away Meet: 8am Sat. June 17 BCW @ Lake Hills

Registration closes on Wednesday 6/14 at 7pm. Please remember that this meet is the last meet to set qualifying seed times for the medal meet.

This away meet gets us back on a Saturday morning schedule but go ahead a plan for a similar parking challenge as Westwood- we will not be parking in their limited lot but instead on street parking on curvy neighborhood roads. Also of note, Lake Hills has a strict no Lake Austin swimming rule for the meet and will remove swimmers or ask families to leave if swimmers or their family members enter the lake. Please remind your swimmer and any siblings in advance if you are participating.

Many families have met the minimum hours (thank you) but we still need those who a have swimmer to step up if and fill the many shifts still open for this away meet. If you can, please hop on line and lend an extra hand, especially if you have not yet met the 4 shift point requirement.

Lost and Found

  • Lost and found is filling up! Check out the box next time you're at practice-- PLEASE! We have very little room and need to get these items back home.

Special Meets - Medal & All-Star Invitational

We have 2 special meets during our swim season (see the swim meets and events page) that require a bit of planning! There is NO NEGOTIATION on the rules for these meets!

First, the Medal Meet on June 24 @ BCW. The medal meet is really fun because instead of ribbons, kids get medals! Medals will be distributed at the end of season party. To be able to swim an event in the meet they will need to have a valid (no DQ) time in the event from this season. Plan early, work with the coaches, and get the qualifying times! Remember - a successful swim is more valuable than an illegal fast swim!

Second, the All-Star Invitational Meet hosted by Westwood requires a specific qualifying time from the current season. We have been handing out rainbow ribbons for those that have qualified! More information is available on the Barracuda home page under Schedule -> All Star Invitational.

End-of-Year Celebration

Our end-of-year celebration is scheduled from 5-8pm at the BCW pool on June 28th. Join us for good food, good friends, and great fun as we celebrate our swimmers and coaches, distribute ribbons, trophies, and medals, and generally enjoy each other's company one last time. We will have Chick-fil-a, pizza, a dunking booth and water slide, and lots of other fun!

RSVPs and volunteer job sign-up open NOW! We ask that everyone, attending or not, RSVP for the party to help us have enough food and drinks to accommodate everyone. Please plan to RSVP by Sunday June 24th @ 9:00pm (scroll to bottom of page).
