Swim Meet 5/24 - RP &LW @ BCW

Hey Barracudas!

Happy last day of school to most of our swimmers and congrats to our BCE and WRMS graduates!  Hopefully you can enjoy a treat from Danny's Ice Cream Truck at our Fabulously Fun Friday last afternoon.

Now, let's move on to the information for those attending the swim meet tomorrow! We are welcoming back Riverplace Rapids and Lakeway Lakers.

Reminder: Champ meet has a 2 splash requirements (this means you must participate in an event at least twice in the regular season to swim it at Champs).

NOTES ON RELAYS

Many families both new and returning have had questions about how relays work, and the link below should answer all your Barracuda relay-related questions. As mentioned above, any swimmer who has not personally SIGNED IN at Athlete Check-in by 7:45am at the latest will be dropped from early relay teams. For more details, please carefully review the About Those Relays section on the website (scroll down from the top).

What to Bring

First off, please make sure you label anything you bring.

  • Team suit!!! That’s our uniform!!! :).
  • Towels to set down to claim your space and another one to dry off.
  • Goggles and team swim cap if you use them.  No other team swim caps at meets, you represent the Barracudas!
  • Sunscreen!  Summer is here and we don't want sunburned Barracudas!
  • Leave your kickboards and fins at home. Those aren’t needed at meets.
  • Rain gear for the families in case we get rain.

Heat Sheet

The heat sheet is posted on our website here! Feel free to print this out for your benefit or follow along on the SwimTopia app.

Marking up Swimmers

You can help the Age Group volunteers by writing their last name on their back in Sharpie marker and then their events in order "event number-heat number-lane number" on their arm so they can see what they are swimming.

None of that is required, but it’s part of the experience for some, and helps them take ownership of when they’re swimming. Most importantly, make sure your swimmers know what strokes they are swimming so they know to line up when their AGP calls for that event!

You can go to https://www.bcwbarracudas.com/helpful-info and scroll down to Marking Your Swimmer for more info!

Where to Park

Our humble parking lot will be full early. There will be cones along the inner/playground side of the driveway, please don’t park in the grass on that side as it breaks the sprinkler heads. Cars can park along the side of Creeks Edge Pkwy.

Where to Watch

Parents cannot bring chairs inside the fenced pool deck area. This area is view only.

But you can set up tents, chairs, coolers, and umbrellas outside on our amazing lawn either in between the pool and basketball court (under the trees in the shade!) or in the grassy area by the parking lot. Since we have 2 away teams, one team will be set up on the basketball court and the other in the grassy area between the courts & playground. Take note and make sure they have room.

Parents and guests are welcome to stand and watch their swimmers during his/her individual races from vantage points along the north and south sides of the pool, but then are requested to exit the pool deck area after their swimmers’ races to give space for other parents. When your swimmer is racing, please take note of the ropes to give space for the timing tents and ready bench. Swimmers will be moving to/from the AGP tents to the ready bench and from the timer tent back to the AGP tents after their races, so we need to keep those areas clear of congestion. The visiting teams will enter and exit the pool through the breezeway by the bathrooms. See “Swim Meets 101” for more detail.

Keeping Up Online

Check out the Swimtopia mobile app in your phone’s app store. Some features are free, some do require a subscription similar to Meet Mobile. Assuming all goes well, we should have real-time meet status (current event/heat) and results in the app.

Cancellation/Scratches

If anything comes up this evening or early in the morning and your swimmer is no longer available to swim, please please please, email [email protected] with the details. Once warm up starts and volunteers arrive, we will not be monitoring email though, so if you need to scratch after 7:00 am the morning of the meet, please text Catherine Bedell at 512-922-5526.

REMINDERS

  • Baby Pool and Big Pool Steps are CLOSED During ALL Meets.
  • Swimmers should remain with their AGPs between races so they can be ready to go for each swim. Remind them to either be with their AGP group or let the AGP know they are going to concessions or the restroom. If your swimmer is not there when his/her event is called and lined up, s/he may miss the event.
