Warmup begins at 2:25 pm; that means swimmers would be inside the gate with their stuff set laid out, sunscreen on, arms marked up (more on that below) and ready to get in the water at 2:25. We’re planning to start the meet promptly at 3:00pm. Since this isn’t a dual meet, the meet will be quicker and take approximately two hours once we get started.
Team Photo
We have our Team Photo after warmups at 2:55pm. Even if you cannot make the whole meet, we would love to stop by for the team photo!
This isn't the individual photo; that will be during practice at another date (see the events calendar on our website).
Annually our Intrasquad Meet is our best opportunity for a team photo for our website; dual meets are too chaotic with the other team there and a tighter timeline.
What to Bring
First off, please make sure you label anything you bring to practices and meets.
- Wear your team suit!!! That’s our uniform!!! :)
- A towel, chair or folding stadium cushion (e.g. crazy creek) to set down to claim your space and another towel or shammie to dry off.
- Goggles and green Barracudas swim cap (no other club caps permitted).
- SUNSCREEN. Nobody wants a sunburned Barracuda.
- Cash or credit card for concessions - we will have snacks and likely pizza for sale.
- Cards, bead or rubber band bracelet kit or similar crafts are fun for time between events, but Intrasquad will move fairly quickly since it's just Barracudas.
What NOT to bring:
- Leave your kickboards and fins at home. Those aren’t needed at meets.
- Ipads and other electronics - these don't do well around water and we want the kids to interact with their teammates and support one another during events, not be glued to a screen.
Heat Sheet
The heat sheet will be posted on our website here under Swim Meets and Events -- Intrasquad! Please print this out for your benefit!
Marking up Swimmers
You can help the Age Group volunteers by writing your swimmer's last name on their back shoulder in Sharpie and then in order "event number-heat number-lane number" on their arm or thigh so they can see what they are swimming.
None of that is required, but it’s part of the experience for some, and helps them take ownership of when they’re swimming. Most importantly, make sure your swimmers know what strokes they are swimming!
Here’s a helpful video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww3fElqOh6o
If you want to write the events, here are the basic steps and more detail can be found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yqtIbSkH7KXWMW0xW2Wo2Gm8X2hBf87tVsQqX1X2be8/edit?usp=sharing
- Write your swimmer's name in big letters on his/her back.
- Go through the summary sheet for each child, confirming their events.
- Make four (4) column headings - E, H, L, S on your child’s left forearm (grid lines optional). These stand for Event, Heat, Lane and Stroke
- For each event, write the event number, heat number, lane number and stroke in the corresponding column.
Where to Park
Our humble parking lot will be full before 2:30pm. There will be cones along the inner/playground side of the driveway, please don’t park in the grass on that side, it breaks the sprinkler heads. Cars can park along the side of Creeks Edge Pkwy.
Where to Watch
Parents cannot bring chairs inside the fenced pool deck area.
You can set up chairs, coolers, and umbrellas outside on the lawn either in between the pool and basketball court (under the trees in the shade!) or in the grassy area by the parking lot.
Parents and guests are welcome to come in and stand and watch their swimmers during his/her individual races from vantage points along the SIDE of the pool, but then are requested to exit the pool deck area after their swimmers’ races to give space for other parents.
Note that no one can be inside the roped off timer tents except the timers and swimmers starting/exiting an event (come be a timer for the best seat int he house!). Also, you cannot photograph or film behind the timer tents, so the best place to watch and capture your child's race is from the side of the pool by the fence.
Keeping Up Online
Check out the Swimtopia mobile app in your phone’s app store. Some features are free, some require a subscription similar to Meet Mobile. Assuming all goes well, we should have real-time meet status (current event/heat) and results in the app.
Cancellation/Scratches
If anything comes up before the meet and your swimmer needs to cancel his/her participation in the meet, please, email [email protected] with the details.
Volunteers
We still need a few more volunteers for the Ready Bench and Timers to make the meet happen. Intrasquad is a great learning opportunity and easy way to get one of your points for the season. If you are attending and can volunteer, please email [email protected].
Thanks everyone! We look forward to a super fun Summer Swim Team Season!!!
