Swim Meet Recap & Entries Reminder

Hey Barracudas!

...y'all

From the East to the West Barracudas are the Best!

Super Duper Swims Today, and I have a few favorites to mention during next week's practices, for sure!

All in All, I see progress & performance happening in each Age-Group, in each event, so; from the Coach to All The Families,,, I am proud of all our swimmers racing!

Reminder that next week's BCW Swim Meet is a FRIDAY NIGHT MEET!! Go to the website to look at our scheduled warm-up times & events for our last meet to host at BCW, next Friday May 22nd and enter your swimmers to race!

Race Dives have improved (POW!) ... I loved our Fun Friday Activity for the 8&Unders, Diving thru the HOOPS! Y'all are sailing across the water into your race dives better than ever before KEEP it UP!! Hands & Head First to Start Your Race!!

Much Better (to my watchful eyes) of more Barracudas being aware of 2-Hand Touches to finish Breaststroke & Butterfly races. AND... all the littles (*8&Un) finishing their Backstroke Races like a Pro!! Way to stay focused to stay on your back to finish your Backstroke race! Love it...

Now a few reminders,,,

If you are entered into a Team Relay, and you will not be staying at the meet to swim with your teammates on your assigned relay, you must report to an Age-Group parent Leader, a Coach, etc. When a swimmer entered into a relay-team leaves the meet without properly notifying, it is a scramble to replace the swimmer and/or the entire relay ends up scratched from the event. That leaves 3 swimmers out who planned on getting to participate in a relay ; (

Review website and the instructions regarding leaving a meet, scratching events & how to properly notify the right chain of command to cover a missed swimmer, thanks y'all...

Speaking of TEAM... I see the swimmers working together & communicating greatly! This is what we want! I see swimmers cheering each other on & reminding each other of important aspects of their races,,, "Luke! Touch with 2-hands!" "Owen! Wait until they touch (Relay)"... so good! I had a parent remind Coach Victor & I that we could have helpers, coaches, swimmers at the other end of a swimmers race giving physical cues to "Touch with 2-Hands" to ensure that they ... touch with 2-hands... but I disagree. Our swim practice is for the practice of how to swim the 4-strokes & how to practice performing the rules of their races. If we have too many people/swimmers/coaches showing excited hand signals for a 2-hand touch, the swimmer slows down to comprehend the gesture, stops swimming & now we have the risk of an unnatural disturbance in their efforts to stay in stroke & get to the wall... let them practice performance with coaches. Let the parents, grandparents, & guardians ask them about the rules of their race. Let them naturally encourage & remind each other of what to do for a ribbon earning, official time swim. They are loving swimming with each other & it looks like they are having a blast because they are.....

Practice, Encourage & Perform!

All The Bests,

Ms. Alice
