Barracudas Weekly 5-18-26
Hey Barracudas,
Thanks for another great swim meet! Collect your ribbons today after practice. Meet results are posted on our website under Swim Meets and Events →Past Events. Live and final results are also available in the SwimTopia app.
This Friday night we welcome LW @ BCW. The meet begins at 5:00 pm, with warm-up starting at 4:00pm. It should finish around 8:00pm. This is the last day of school for most of our Barracudas so bring the energy! We’ll have our fabulous DJ Cortney spinning up hits, concessions selling pizza, frozen treats and snacks and the pool lights on!
Be sure to register whether you are attending or not (see below) and select your swimmer’s availability for relays. The check in deadline for early relays is 4:45 pm. If your swimmer(s) have not checked in by this time, they will be scratched from their relays and the Relay Coordinator will scramble to find a replacement or have to scratch that entire relay.
If you think you might be late, just select “No Early Relays”. May have other conflicts? Select “No relays” just in case. If you need to leave the meet early for any reason, you must tell your AGP and the AGP can communicate it to a Board member so we can try to find a relay replacement if needed.
Meet entry is now open: Meet entries due Wednesday @ noon. That makes for a short week so register your swimmer(s) now! Timeline is on our website.Click here to sign your swimmer up for events. If you have questions about if your swimmer is ready to try IM, butterfly or breaststroke, please have your swimmer check with the coaches at practice or email Coach Ryan at [email protected]
If you are not attending, please be sure to mark your swimmer(s) as “Not Attending” in bcwbarracudas.com or SwimTopia mobile app. Meet information is on the Swim Meets & Events calendar @www.bcwbarracudas.com/swim_meets
All Star Ribbons - are being distributed this week! What are these shiny rainbow ribbons for? Who is an AHSL All Star? The league came up with a set of time standards to indicate roughly the top 20% of the league! These times are marked with AS26 on the Results sheet and posted on our website under Meet Logistics. These rainbow ribbons are an honorific only, you do not need one to participate in the Champs meet (see below). Congratulations to all our All Stars!
The season finale is almost here!!! Austin Hills Swim League Champs meet is coming up on June 14 @ Round Rock ISD Natatorium! All swimmers in the league that have participated in 2 regular meets (note that we only have two meets left and intrasquad doesn’t count!) and have a valid time (this doesn’t have to be an all star qualifying time, just a legal time not a DQ or NS) in an event are invited! Now is the time to dive in! More information available on our champs webpage. Volunteer jobs for the champs meet are also open.
To be very clear on the champs qualifications, both of the following must be met -
- Meet Participation: The swimmer must have participated (splashed) in at least two regular season swim meets. It does not matter how they swam—whether they were disqualified (DQ’d) or won their races—as long as they participated.Note: There are only TWO meets remaining. Any swimmer who has not yet participated in a regular dual/tri meet (no intrasquads) must attend both of the final two remaining meets to meet this requirement.
- Valid Time in Each Entered Event: The swimmer must have a valid time (no NT or DQ) in each individual event they plan to swim at Champs. A valid time only needs to have been achieved once during the season. We have run medal meets this way for years.
Lost and found is OVERFLOWING from the meet and practices! Please label your gear and check the bin! SO MANY TOWELS. Please have a look for your stuff.
Volunteer slots are open for the rest of the season. Because we are completely volunteer run, we need your help to make these swim meets happen! Please look at the open jobs, expectations, including arrival times, and only sign up for jobs that you can make on-time!Click here and select Job Signup or you can add/remove shifts by selecting the green Job Signup buttons next to each event. You can see all of your job shifts here.
If you’re interested in learning more about a specific role, we’re happy to teach you! We’d love to have people learn more and take on a bigger role in the future.
Swimtopia App: Make sure you have installed and are logged in to the Swimtopia Mobile App (iPhone) or (Android) to get text-style push notification alerts when we have to cancel. This app is great because it is tied to our website and can send out push notifications on practice cancellations.
Make Up Photo Date - we tentatively scheduled a photo make up day the morning of May 27th if you missed the previous dates and want to get your commemorative photo taken. Check the website for details.
Need more Info? Check out our website for information on thevolunteer roles, for a “Swim Meets 101” overview and otherhelpful information. Any questions, reach out to a board member on the pool deck or email [email protected].
Kiddie Pool. We will leave the splash pool open during practices for little siblings (under 4) who are not yet ready to join the team, as long as a parent is supervising their splashing. Please tell your big Barracudas this is not a good place for them to play while waiting for practice and if it gets too loud or disruptive, we will need to close the splash area during practice. No fountains during this time (it is too loud).
The Kiddie Pool and steps to the Big Pool are CLOSED during all swim meets.
Any questions about anything swim related, please reach out to a board member or email [email protected]
See you in the Pool!
